The Joy of Attending Indian Weddings : Love for Food

It is the wedding season, and I am just gaining weight. Why? Bachelorette, haldi, mehendi, the wedding and reception ceremonies. Phew, feasting full on. I mean Indian weddings are really occasions to add a few inches. Precisely, that’s the reason why I dread weddings.

The reason for my weight gain are the following recipes I had and I also know that I will be making them at home sometime. It’s all my fault.

Paneer Butter Masala

What is a wedding feast without any paneer dish? Yes, Paneer Butter Masala, the vegetarian option to Butter Chicken that has some really decent chunks of soft paneer in a lovely creamy and buttery orange gravy finished with some more cream is just what celebrations are all about. I prefer to have this lip-smacking sabzi with butter garlic naan or roomali roti. Totally compliments the taste, right?

Spring Roll

Think Chinese vegetarian starters, and what comes to mind is Spring Roll. Delicious-tasting rolls of vegetables sauteed in Chinese spices and rolled into a maida cover are my favourite finger foods. With this authentic recipe I am sure you will get the taste of the perfect Spring Roll. This recipe also helps save time with ready made spring roll wrappers. I am all for this easy-peasy recipe.

Momos

Momos have travelled a long way from Tibet via Nepal and now in India. How wonderfully we have come up with even more interesting and tempting versions of momos such as, fried, tandoor, pan fried, jhol momo, open momo, chocolate momo and this is just one of the reasons why momos are my favourite. I love the fiery Chilli Momos usually, the ones you get on the street. The wedding had these yummy pan-fried momos that are a mix of shallow frying and steaming. My weight was on my mind, so these are just right.

Paneer Tikka Masala

No matter how much I tried to turn a deaf ear to guests talking about delicious food, it was a futile attempt though. Finally, when I could no longer resist the urge of visiting the fusion food counter, I got myself two slices of Paneer Tikka Masala pizza. A bite into that heavenly piece and I was like, who on earth thought of this mind blowing dish, deserves an award. Also, I feel less guilty of eating two different items. Smart na?

So you see, all that eating has added to my girth. Nevertheless, do try these recipes at home in small portion sizes of course and then you won’t be complaining like I am.
