India is globally renowned for its diversity, ethnicity, and dynamism. Apart from fashion, the other way every Indian expresses their love for their culture is through food. With multiple cultures comes a whole host of varied cuisines that leave people jaw dropped. Every cuisine has a significant difference in terms of flavour, texture, preparation method, among other aspects.
As an Indian, I too have tried various dishes that belong to different cuisines and I too have many favourites that I would like to share with each and every individual out there. So, here’s a list of my top 4 dishes that I regularly prepare for myself:
Dosa
Consumed by people all over the world, Dosa is a dish that I can eat at any time of any day. Its crispy texture and a slightly sour flavour gives it an edge. There are so many different varieties of Dosas that one might find it difficult to choose from them all. Personally, I love eating a nice crisp dosa with the evergreen coconut chutney. The pairing is absolute bliss. So, here is the recipe one must follow for the perfect Dosa:
Sabudana Khichdi
Hailing from the land of Marathas, Maharashtra, Sabudana Khichdi makes for a lovely breakfast dish that makes for a wholesome meal to kick off the day. Sabudana is essentially small pearl-like beads that is absolutely delicious. One could prepare this with peanuts, onion, curry leaves, among other ingredients that pair brilliantly with it. So, if you ever enter a Maharashtrian home during breakfast hours, there is a high chance that you would be served a lovely bowl of Sabudana Khichdi. Trust me, you won’t stop at one helping. Here is a lovely recipe one could follow-
Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki Roti
There are absolutely no words to describe this excellent pair and dish. Usually consumed during the winter season, this dish comes from Punjab which faces extreme cold. Sarson, also known as mustard, is used to prepare a thick and creamy dish that is perfectly paired with Makki Ki Roti, where Makki means corn. Every single bite of this dish is heavenly and you just can’t get enough of this seasonal dish. Follow this recipe for an excellent meal.
Last but not the least, Keema. It could be made as a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian dish. Personally, I prefer a lovely aromatic chicken keema dish with hot and soft chappatis. This dish is so aromatic, and flavourful, and comes with a lovely texture that your palate will thank you for. So, for the perfect meal, follow this recipe
All in all, I hope I have managed to capture the essence of India in this dynamic list of dishes that are extremely well known and highly consumed on a global scale. So, if you haven’t tried these, don’t miss out on giving it a go!
