Sweets for breakfast, anyone?

Wake up in the morning and it is yet another usual day! Not exciting, is it? Besides there are no festivals round the corner either, so what can be done to make your typical day seem festive and happening? Breakfast is an important part of the day which sets a tone for the rest of the day. Typically, we start our day with a cup of tea or coffee and some breakfast to go with it like dosa, upma, cereal, oatmeal etc. But we have an idea to break the monotony! Instead of this everyday breakfast, start your day with something sweet and surprise everyone at home.

To help you, we have got some insanely good recipes to fuel your day with its meethaas and set a festive tone to your otherwise boring morning.

Unniyappam

Surely we have all had savoury appams for breakfast. But have you ever tried Unniappam, the classic South Indian recipe made with rice flour, banana, coconuts and jaggery? These mini sweet treats are absolutely amazing. Instead of banana, you can also try using mango pulp and make Sweet Mango Appe. Of course when mangoes are in season, you can use fresh ones, but at the moment, canned pulp will do the needful. Wake up to this warm, healthy and hearty breakfast.

Pudding

Puddings and kheer make up not only for festivities but also for a good filling breakfast. We suggest you give Sabudana Mango Pudding a try. Made using minimum ingredients, this pudding can also be eaten for vrat. It is a special fusion recipe which, if not finished at the breakfast (which we think is highly unlikely because of its amazing taste) can be eaten as a dessert after dinner! That’s like killing 2 birds in one stone! Best part is you don’t have to wait till mangoes are in season, simply use canned pulp. Guaranteed, when you want to make your day festive, then this one is a straight win! Otherwise, if you prefer sticking to the basics, then go for the Meethe Sevaiyan, sagan ni sev or dry sweet vermicelli, which will certainly get all the family members drooling.

Chikki or Burfi

While rushing to work or school, you’d want a quick on-the-go snack option, which is not only healthy but also tasty. Remember, we want to get that festive feeling too! So, try the Coconut melon seeds Chikki. Add melon seeds to your coconut chikki along with poppy seeds and that’s it, you’ve ticked both the boxes. Munch on it as you go. But burfi ke bina kya festivities ho sakti hai? Absolutely no! Try out this easy to make, unique pineapple barfi made with pretty much only 3 items- Chopped tinned pineapple, khoya and sugar!

Finally, no festivities can be complete without sharing these sweet treats with your loved ones, so go ahead, and celebrate life. No need to keep finding a reason to eat sweet, and indulge guilt free!
