Summer Treat for Kids: Cooking Their Favourite Dishes

Schools have closed for the summer and the most dreaded time for parents, kids’ vacations has arrived. Most would say, it was easier with schools on, I would just pack the tiffin. But now, with vacations, kids will demand something throughout the day. While we, the mommies are busy discussing this on our Whatsapp group, I will definitely make a treat for my kids as I promised them I would make them one after their exams. That’s why they studied harder too. Actually, I am the one who offered a bribe!

So, here’s a look at my menu for my kids and their friends.

Veg Manchurian Dry

A good way to get these little monsters to eat cabbage, carrots and capsicums, other than mushrooms. Given an option, kids would like me to put mushrooms in everything. But that’s not how they will benefit, right? So, the Veg Manchurian Dry is a good way to trick them into having healthy options. Takes a bit of a skill, as the water content has to be removed from carrot and cabbage. I keep them both, less spicy, the manchurian balls and the sauce it is tossed in. They are happy eating it cold too. Always a great hit at my place!

Cheesy Hara Bhara Kebab

Cheesy Hara Bhara Kebab is a delightful option. A real treat for the ‘bachchaa company’,

as it has cheese. Without potatoes, hardly ever a pattice or cutlet is complete.

So, with spinach, green peas and spices you make the patty, place a cheese cube in it and shallow fry. Serve them with tomato ketchup or a mayo and see your kids smiling away.

Kids will simply love it.

Mutter Pulao

Lightly spiced, uses just peas and onions, and of course with the finest Basmati rice. It was a treat afterall. Just saute the onions in a jeera tempering add, rice, peas and give it a light stir. Sit back a few mins and that’s it. Your Mutter Pulao is ready.

Kesar Pista Kulfi

A dessert is a must after a delicious treat. What better than a Kesar Pista Kulfi. One, the kids get a real heavy dose of milk and second, it is SIMPLY AWESOME! Heat milk and reduce it to half. Add the cardamoms and the MAIN STARS of the recipe. Cook for a few minutes, and wait for a few hours till it sets. So make sure you prepare this a day before or early morning, so that it sets by serving time.

How did you like my kids’ party menu? Just the usual recipes made with lots of love. Do try these yourself too with the links given.
