Aloo chaat
We just cannot miss out on Aloo Chaat while thinking of snacks! The smoking hot, crispy fried potato cubes are placed in a plate, and dressed with finely chopped onion, fresh coriander, lots of chat masala, some pomegranate pearls, an array of chatpata chutneys and sev. The crunchy sound of mixing everything together and the beautiful spread of colours attracts us even more. Again, Aloo Chaat is made in various different styles, but you can twist it and make it in your own style to tickle your taste buds.
Dahi Bhalle
After a tiring day, you want something calming and Dahi Bhalle is just that. It is a happy snack that is not only filling but also easy to put together. Soft lentil fritters soaked and served with generous amount of creamy yogurt, sprinkled with red chilli powder and fresh coriander is a sumptuous dish. Khandvi
Next one on our list is the Khandvi or the Suralichi Vadi, a popular side dish. The fresh yellow colour and the soft texture of this savoury snack is very warm and welcoming. Khandvi is primarily made of gram flour and yogurt and is easy to digest. These tightly rolled bite-sized pieces of Khandvi, topped with tempering make us drool. Here’s the fun part, you can also try out the fusion recipes like cheesy spinach Khandvi or the beetroot Khandi.
Dhokla
This versatile dish can be savoured as a snack, a side dish, for breakfast, or even as a main course, it’s that tasty! The sponge like fluffy Dhokla or the famous Gujrati Dhokla is our favourite snack. For making a Khaman Dhokla, a semi-thick fermented batter of gram flour and yogurt is steamed and topped with flavourful tempering. To garnish it, freshly scrapped coconut and coriander is sprinkled over it. If you want to try out a hatke version then you must check out our tandoori Dhokla recipe.
