It is officially February and we are now ready to welcome the vibrant season of spring. As we step into the warmer months, it is time to celebrate Basant Panchami - a festival dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and arts. During this time, nature is blooming with energy, and positivity therefore, color yellow plays a huge role in the festivities. So, get ready to embrace the season with some delightful yellow-themed delights!

  1. Kesari Bhat -

Kesari Bhat is a fragrant and flavorful South Indian dessert made with semolina, ghee, sugar, and saffron. The vibrant yellow color comes from saffron, which not only adds a beautiful hue but also imparts a rich aroma and taste. This dish is often garnished with dry fruits like raisins and almonds, making it a delightful treat for the festival. Moreover, this bright rice dish fills up the tummy and heart in no time.

  1. Boondi Ladoo -

Boondi Ladoo is a popular Indian sweet made from tiny fried droplets of chickpea flour batter, soaked in sugar syrup, and shaped into round balls. The bright yellow color of these ladoos makes them perfect for Vasant Panchami. They are often garnished with slivers of almonds and pistachios, adding a crunchy texture to the soft, melt-in-your-mouth sweetness. So, even if the shaadi season is over, Boondi Ladoo is still continuing to charm everyone with its taste.

  1. Khichdi (Bengali-style) -

Yes, you can totally make khichdi for festivities. Bengali-style Khichdi is a comforting and hearty dish made with rice, lentils, and a mix of vegetables and spices. The yellow color comes from turmeric, which not only adds a vibrant hue but also provides numerous health benefits. This makes it tasty, healthy as well as suitable for festivities.

  1. Puran Poli -

Puran Poli is a traditional Maharashtrian sweet flatbread filled with a mixture of jaggery and split Bengal gram (chana dal). The yellow color of the filling comes from turmeric and saffron, making it a perfect addition to the Vasant Panchami celebrations. This dish is often enjoyed with a dollop of ghee, adding richness to the sweet and aromatic filling.

  1. Gond Ke Ladoo

Gond Ke Ladoo is a nutritious and energy-boosting sweet made with edible gum (gond), whole wheat flour, ghee, and jaggery. These ladoos are often consumed during the winter months to provide warmth and energy but you can have these for Vasant Panchami while the weather is still a little cooler. The chewy texture of the gond and the rich flavor of the jaggery make them a delicious and healthy treat.

As you celebrate Saraswati Puja & Basant Panchami with your loved ones, enjoy these special yellow coloured delights. And with this, we wish the season brings endless brightness and joy into your life.
