When it comes to desserts, do you also get stuck in the dilemma of whether to just eat ice cream or jalebi or maybe both together in the form of Jalebi Ice Cream Sandwich instead? In such cases, we believe, experimenting to get the best of both worlds might be a better option. Giving a makeover to the regular dishes is fun, adventurous, and delicious too. Take for example Lassi Panna Cotta, Baked Rabri Cheesecake, Phirni Cake With Mini Malpua, sounds amazing, doesn't it?
So, if you are one of those who loves to add a twist to everything, then here’s a list of some delicious Bengali desserts in a new avatar -
First one on the list is a classic Bengali dessert - Mishti Doi. To make this beloved dessert even more fun, we suggest giving it a twist of baking. So, unlike the traditional version, which takes hours to set, this Baked version of Mishti Doi gets ready quickly within half an hour and still requires only four ingredients - Yogurt, Condensed milk, Fresh cream and Nolen gur.
Next up is Bengal’s pride - Roshogulla. Again, this beloved dessert is tasty in its original form, but if we combine it with the classic slow-cooked Indian sweet pudding, Phirni, then it tastes even better. This scrumptious blend of Roshogolla and Phirni is an interesting spin that you cannot miss out on. The flavour of green cardamom, rose water and saffron make it worth all the efforts that you might put in to make this dessert.
Then comes the sweet yogurt, Bhapa Doi. You must be already loving this delicious instant dessert as it is, but adding in the caramel sauce enhances the taste making Caramel Bhapa Doi a must try. Whisk together some yogurt, condensed milk, caramel sauce and milk in a large bowl, strain the mixture and transfer it into individual earthen pots for steaming. Then refrigerate it and serve chilled garnished with pistachio slivers and almond slivers.
Fourth recipe on the list is Sandesh, a Bengali dessert made using chenna balls. This time serve Sandesh over stewed figs and golden apricots. Figs And Apricots elevate the dessert making it not just look pretty but also taste yummy. Besides, this transformation is quick and easy, so anyone can make it.
Last but not the least is Chennar Payesh, another classic Bengali dessert. Payesh or the creamy, rich porridge tastes heavenly in itself. This time around, give it a twist of tangy orange. Simply add orange powder mixture to the regular Payesh, garnish with almonds and pistachios and serve chilled.
We hope you try out these recipes which are your regular favourites from the Bengali cuisine, but have a tasty twist worth trying.
