Not the one to spend long hours in the kitchen ? Looking to rustle up some quick and ‘hatke’ recipes. Now we come to recipes that are great snack ideas and take relatively less time to make. The interesting part of these recipes is that most of the ingredients are easily available at home or can be easily picked up from the market.
Palak Vada
With Palak Vada, split black gram combines with spinach as a deep-fried dumpling that’s so wonderfully crunchy. Good for kids and the elderly too, while the former would need supervision though. This is a different take over the plain urad dal vadas we have been having.
Chili Idli
A fantastic fusion Chindian recipe, as is informally said. This is because we like our food ‘teekha’ or pungent. As the name suggests, Chilli Idli is quartered and fried and is then stir-fried in a hot sauce made Chinese-style. If for any reason you can’t make idlis, then there is always the option of picking some from idli vendors. There are plenty of them now. Or watch out for them in the mornings.
Poha Chaat
The Poha Chaat is probably how the Indoris love their poha, spicy and colourful. Before it tastes great, it should look great. The vibrant garnish of sev, pomegranate seeds, diced onions, grated carrot and chopped coriander grabs eyeballs and the tastebuds are hit by assorted flavours. A lot of spices along with garam masala and other flavours such as fennel and cumin go into the Indori poha. Besides, the garnish too has a gentle sprinkling of a special ‘jeerawan’ masala.
