Muh meetha kijiye!

The favourite part of the meal for all those who have a sweet tooth is dessert. Sweets play an integral part in India, which is traditionally called “mithai”. Anything and everything starts or ends with mithai in India. In countries with rich traditions, just like India, having a sumptuous cultural base, sweets play an important part in any type of occasion or festival. Any kind of ceremony or occasion will have sweets in it as they signify good omen, happiness, and prosperity. In our Bharat, every happy occasion is marked with the distribution of sweets to share their happiness. From Dahi shakkar to wish you luck in your exam till the box of kaju katli to celebrate Diwali and a box of ladoo as a goodbye gift, sweets aren’t just dessert or food for us it’s an emotion. We Indians have a special place in our hearts and always a little extra room in our tummies for sweets. A gathering, festivals, parties, occasions, everything in India is incomplete without Mithais in Indian households. Even though you don’t have a sweet tooth no one can say no to a bowl full of desi sweets. So here are some recipes to make your heart smile and palate drooling!

Rasmalai

How can someone say no to a bowl full of these spongy sweet balls? Food can bring anyone closer and this is the only safest way to win someone’s heart. Chilled Rasmalai floating in sweet milky syrup is the only thing your sweet side can ask for on this hot summer day.

Sabudana Kheer

Sabudana is one such food that is associated with fasting a lot. Loaded with starch, these small little balls can give a lot of energy during our fasts. Sabudana kheer is one of the most popular recipes of sabudana, especially during festive times. These small little pearls boiled in milk added with some sugar can be a perfect vrat snack and also a dessert.

Spiced Milkmaid Carrot Cake

This spongy carrot-flavoured cake is made during an occasion or can be enjoyed during breakfast too. It’s a very popular British recipe which is long known for its yummy flavours. This is a simple cake topped with milkmaid and icing sugar that can be the best dessert for your party!

Rose Caramel Custard

Caramel custard looks so fancy that people think it’s a very hard dessert to make. But this simple yet delicious dessert requires only three main ingredients which are egg, milk and sugar. This rose caramel custard with the flavour of gulab, vanilla essence and sugar caramel can surprise you with every bite!

Thandai Cigars

Cigars are not good for your health but I can vouch that this cigar won’t do any harm! A unique take on thandai, a tuile biscuit filled with rose-flavoured thandai and edges coated with roasted almonds is not only a treat for your eyes but a perfect way to satiate your sweet tooth.
