Iconic dishes you will find in every Indian household

The population of the Indian Subcontinent is obsessed with food and that is a fact. The dishes you come across in India are so unique that you may not find a single cuisine similar to this. The ecstatic aroma, magnificent colour, and delectable flavours describe this cuisine in the best manner possible.

One bite of any Indian dish will leave your tongue tingling in excitement for more. Every Indian household has a menu that alters but some dishes never change and each of those are iconic. I have taken the liberty to list down dishes that you will definitely come across on every Indian household’s regular menu:

Methi Paratha

You may think that methi is a leafy vegetable that is bitter and nobody consumes it but that’s not true. The Indian population cannot do without Methi. This recipe is so simple to prepare and is regularly eaten for breakfast or with a side of Aloo Sabzi. Circles of sheer joy is what one could say for Methi Paratha.

Shahi Paneer

The name of this dish definitely gives away a hint of the flavour. As the name suggests, this dish actually comprises spices that make it taste as royal as it could get. Prepared with the right balance of sweet and salty flavours and soft cubes of paneer, Shahi Paneer is a one of a kind dish that will leave you in awe of it.

Sarso ka Saag

Sarson, a green leafy vegetable grown on the fields of Punjab, does not just add a unique and irresistible flavour but brings with itself a whiff of ‘the land of 5 rivers’. This dish is usually prepared during the winters since the vegetable is available only during that part of the year. Each and every Indian household prepares Sarson Ka Saag a minimum of thrice during its season, or at least I do.

Dal Makhani

Where do I even start with this dish? Dal Makani, with a rich tomato based gravy, is one such recipe that is famous across the entire globe. It is prepared and loved by people who may have never even visited the country. Hailing from Punjab, Dal Makhani is one such iconic dish that is prepared in every Indian household at least once in 2 weeks. It is creamy, buttery, and has a flavour that will remain

in your memory forever.

The above is a list of dishes that you have to try at least once in your lifetime. They are full of mouth-watering flavours, hypnotic aroma, and are absolutely mesmerising to look at. If you are one of those people who have never tried Indian cuisine, this is where you should begin and trust me when I say this, you will definitely thank me later. Enjoy preparing and eating these appetising dishes.
