Getting Ready for Summer With Shakes, Mocktails and Light Snacks

It is getting warmer and it is time to get ready for the scorching heat in the latter months of April and May. Typically we do have lemonade, Rooh Afza, thin buttermilk or lassi flavoured with rose syrup, thandai, khus and of course mango pulp.

But get-togethers in summers are special occasions, right? So, for important events like these, I have my mocktails sorted out. Take a look at this.

Pina Colada

Think of a refreshing drink with ice cream, pineapple juice and most often it is the Virgin Pina Colada that comes to mind. Indeed, with most tropical fruits and vanilla ice cream, this is a fabulous drink when I made the last time, my assistants, meaning my family had a really great time sipping on this thick, creamy drink.

Vanilla Shake

As such you can simply blend vanilla ice cream with cold milk and have it just like that. But when it is summer, then what better than a tall glass of cold coffee with vanilla ice cream. Indescribably delicious! This Vanilla Shake with cold coffee takes on a whole new meaning when it is the summer. A luscious makeover that makes it superbly filling. Sometimes, I even skip my dinner or take only a little of it. Really, my stomach is full with this choco ice cream and vanilla ice cream and chocolate. Yum! Just how amazingly vanilla transforms cold coffee into a soothing shake.

Bhel Puri

Long before there was a McD, a KFC, all we knew was Bhel Puri. Puffed rice, sweet-spicy chutneys, a few chopped vegetables, sev and a puri tucked in it. This was our treat. Makes me so nostalgic now. Yes, our go-to snack was Bhel Puri. After college treat, in office snack still is, Bhel Puri. Such a simple and a quick-to-make snack, this dish continues to rule the hearts of so many.

Ya, it's great for a quick treat or in the summers when you don’t really want to spend so much time in the kitchen. Phew, the heat!

With these easy-to-make summer specials, won’t summers be exciting and fun? I am sure they will be when you follow the recipe links and make them.
