Dive Into A Delicious Rajasthani Thali At Home

As vast and diverse as India is, so are its food and their flavours. Each state flaunts its own cuisine, its authenticity and culture. Indeed, we are blessed to have such a plethora of food options to choose from. Come to think of it, the ‘Thali’ culture covers all five elements of taste on one plate, making it a joyful process from start to finish. This thoughtful process of curating a nutritionally balanced thali, regardless of which state it belongs to, impresses the taste buds within minutes.

So to say, if you are someone who is curious to explore the culinary diversity of India, then each day you could choose a state and make its special thali. This time, we decided to recreate a thali from the land of sand dunes and scenic locations, forts & palaces - Rajasthani Thali. This quintessential thali of India is adorned with dishes like Dal Batti, Shahi Gatte, Machalee Jaisamandi, Mohan Maas and a lot more. So, get ready to dive into this royal thali at home.

First on the menu is an authentic Rajasthani recipe - Shahi Gatte. This beloved recipe is made by making gatte or dumplings using gram flour, which are then added to the spicy curd gravy. Serve this beautiful Shahi Gatte on your thali along with Bajra ki Roti.

Next is a non-vegetarian delight from the rugged terrain of Rajasthan - Lal Maas. This fiery red mutton curry is made with traditional Rajasthani spices and is truly a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the region passed down through generations. Experience the royal flavors of Lal Maas on your thali along with Bajra ki Roti or plain rice.

Then comes the famous Rajasthani delight - Dal Batti! Batti or the flaky baked dough balls served with a hot spicy tadkewali dal make for a yummy combo which is loved by everyone. Of course don’t forget to add on plenty of ghee to make it even more delicious.

Along with the mains, serve a side of Lehsun and Tamatar Chutney. This winter special chutney is made using fresh green garlic and adds a lot of value to the already amazing thali.

Finally, no thali is complete without a sweet dish. So lastly, serve a special dessert from Rajasthan - Badam ka Halwa. As the name suggests, this heavenly Badam ka Halwa is made with ground almonds, sugar, and fragrant spices. Each spoonful is a mix of sweet and nutty flavors that will make you feel like you're in dessert paradise.

When you serve all these on the thali, you will instantly get a royal feeling. So wait no more, get to the kitchen and prepare for your delicious Rajasthani thali at home.
