Cherished Recipes Served In Unconventional Form

It is a general human tendency to associate certain shapes and tastes with certain recipes, for example, if we think of pizza, we think round, same with pani-puri. Instantly an image builds up in our mind. Some people love to stick to the original recipe to the T, whereas some love experimenting. If you are one of the latter who has a serious interest in exploring new or the same foods with a twist, then this article is for you. So, treat your palate with a gastronomical burst of flavours and answer the ‘what ifs..?’ in your mind.

Let us begin with a sweet delight, gujiya, the crescent shaped mithai served traditionally during holi and diwali. This time, let’s convert Gujiya into Gujiya Tarts. Start off by spreading the mawa filling in a tart shell evenly, and bake it in the oven for 5 minutes. That is it, then simply transfer it onto a serving plate, dust powdered sugar on top and garnish with silver warq and serve.

Next on the list is yet another sweet treat made even more delightful by converting it into a cake. And the cherry on the top is mini gulab jamuns. Traditionally, when we think of Malpua, a super light and fluffy pancake comes to our mind. But to convert Malpua into Malpua Cake, place Malpuas on top of one another sandwiched alternately with rabdi, sweetened boondi and mini gulab jamuns. It is a sure shot winner recipe that you must try.

Then comes a crispy teatime favourite eggless Indian cookie, Nankhatai. These crumbly and soft Indian shortbread cookies can be converted into Nankhatai Sandwich with butter-sugar icing and khoya mixture on the underside of a Nankhatai. This way, your basic cookie / Nankhatai turns into a magical dessert, Nankhatai Sandwich. Try it out at your tea time soon.

Finally we have crispy fried spirals stuffed with a sweet spicy mixture of coconut, poppy and sesame seeds, Bhakarwadi. Unlike its usual avatar, this time, Bhakarwadi is served in a crispy cone - Bhakarwadi Cones. Just the addition of a fun element of shape makes it a perfect party starter, which everyone loves.

We hope you will enjoy giving your cherished recipes a fun twist like the ones on this list. Be creative and explore the innumerable possibilities that you can indulge in.
