Celebrating Valentine’s Day With Classic Rajasthani Mithai

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, love is in the air. Red roses, chocolates and heart shaped balloons have also started flocking the shops. Some are prepping to confess their brand new love, others planning to make their loved ones feel special all over again. Overall, everyone is trying their best to make this V-day a memorable one. However, don’t worry if you still haven't got a plan sorted, we have a unique idea for you. Being foodies, we believe food is the language of love! So, this time around, express your love in the form of Mithai. Here we have curated an amazing list of Mithais from the romantic state full of stately forts and lovely lakes to golden sand dunes - Rajasthan!

First on the list is Ghevar, a popular Rajasthani sweet that is usually made during festive occasions and celebrations, perfect for V-day! This round-shaped dessert is made from a batter of flour, ghee, and milk, which is then deep-fried until it turns crispy. You can try and make a heart shape instead and then top it with a drizzle of rabri, and garnished with chopped nuts. Although  Ghevar is a little tricky to make, we assure you, your efforts will pay off once you offer it to your loved one.

Next up is yet another delicious sweet delicacy of Rajasthan - kalakand. This beautiful creamy Indian milk cake is made with reduced milk and loads of love. Kalakand requires only a few ingredients but tastes very rich and delicious. Besides, it also gets ready without any fuss, so is totally perfect for a last minute V-day prep.

Then comes a classic Rajasthani halwa made using moong ki daal - Moong Ki Daal Ka Halwa. Often relished during winters to gain much required body warmth, this Moong Ki Daal Ka Halwa is rich and melts in the mouth. Topped with a generous amount of ghee, this delicacy takes some time to get ready but the end result is well worth all the efforts.

The fourth delicacy for V-day is Churma Ladoo. The process of this Rajasthani speciality is intricate. It begins with first deep-frying dough made using whole wheat flour, which is then cooled and ground into a coarse mixture. Then this crumbly powder is mixed with ghee and jaggery and shaped into laddoos. Such yummy Churma Ladoo can also be shaped into a heart shape to add in a fun factor.

Finally on the list is a dense Indian style fudge - Mohan Thaal. This melt-in-the-mouth dessert is made with roasted besan or gram flour, sugar, dry fruits and ghee. Popularly relished in Rajasthan, Mohan Thaal has become popular across the world.

With these delicious recipes, we hope you can enjoy your Valentine’s day with your loved ones.
