It’s the month of love, Yay! Love is in the air and it just occurred to me that this is the first occasion in the year when the red colour gets its due importance, the other occasion being Christmas.
And this is the week to show love once again, relive those beautiful moments and create new memories for the future together. Movie dates, attending events, buying each other our most desired items, surprising each other with gifts, all of this happens all the time.
But I chose to put together some recipes, coolers and desserts that have red in them. What better way than to show your love.
Watermelon Cooler
He likes watermelon and so the best way to use his favourite fruit was to make a Watermelon Cooler. Even if the mornings are pleasant, the afternoons are beginning to get hot. Well, I thought of starting the V day celebrations in the afternoon. A refreshing, bright tangy and sweet mojito with chunks of the fruit won me that sweet smile.
Vanilla Special
Indeed a wonderful flavour, vanilla makes all desserts taste better. Like I decided to call this cake Vanilla Special and let him guess what is so special about the cake. My darling totally loved the gesture and the uniqueness of the dish. He was counting all the lovely ingredients that go into the cake. There was shrikhand, motichoor laddoo, fruits, cherries, pistachios and cocoa. He said fabulous and took huge slices of the cake and I didn’t stop him either.
Raspberry and White Chocolate
Well, two very different ingredients and what better way than to bring Raspberry and White Chocolate together but as a mousse. So here I take raspberry jam and also a few fresh raspberries, make the mousse and instead of serving it in shot glasses, I use tart shells. Just right for small treats of love, oops sweetness. The crispy tarts wonderfully balance white chocolate and raspberry.
Mushroom Tikka
I made Mushroom Tikka. Just quick bites as there was so much to eat and drink. Yet another of his favourite starters that is a little spicy and flavorful too. Marinated mushrooms grilled with capsicum and my addition of tomatoes and onion rings, when it gets charred at the edges made for a delicious treat.
All in all, Valentine’s day was a huge success and I am absolutely glad that the recipes turned out simply fabulous. Do try out with the sources shared. Happy Cooking!
