An Italian Treat for my Native Place Cousins

It’s that time of the year, the one I look forward to so eagerly. That is when my cousins from my remote native place usually come over and we take them out for lunch or dinner. Over the years, I realised that they like modern cuisines and this is quite surprising for me as, as most of the ingredients are totally new for them.

Well, I am glad they liked it and this means that I can take them to the Italian food joints I know. And over the past few trips, I also know what Italian dishes they like having afterall, this is what Italian food is soo famous for, right ?

Let’s check out what I enjoy seeing my cousins relish in Italian fare.

Penne Arrabiata

Think Arrabiata and you will know that it means Penne Arrabiata. With this amazingly simple tomato-based sauce, the Penne Arrabiata pasta must definitely be the most-ordered dish on the menu. Penne-shaped pasta is usually made in the arrabiata sauce, with fussili pasta as yet another popular shape. \

Alfredo Pasta

My cuzs can’t have enough of pasta, really, and so the next dish that we must have is the Macaroni Alfredo pasta. The dish gets its name from the Alfredo sauce that is a milk, cream and cheese-based sauce. The cheesiness and the creaminess of this dish and the elbow-shaped pasta is what they like.

Pasta Carbonara

This is exclusively shared between me and my peer cuzs. We love the pastel-coloured pasta often that comes in three colours. One of the classic Italian dishes, this pasta has, yummmmm, I am drooling, two types of cheeses, white wine and eggs. I am full already.

Creamy Mushroom Risotto

For mushroom lovers like me and my cousin gang, there is literally a fight to pick the mushrooms from this Creamy Mushroom Risotto and me being the host, have to make the sacrifice? The button, shimeji, and enoki varieties of mushrooms and the creaminess from the cheeses and the light flavouring of thyme is what we love and can never have enough of. Sigh !!

Margheritta Pizza

The Margherita Pizza is rather plain, as in no toppings and I sooo absolutely love veggies. This time it suited us too as we had already savoured two gorgeous pastas and a creamy risotto. Also we had had enough cheese. This simple pizza with pizza sauce, a garnish of basil leaves was just enough to finish our main course.

So while we all agreed that we need to walk up a little before we stop for dessert, what are your favourite Italian dishes?!
