Potlucks are always fun. Just last week, I decided to celebrate friendship day with my friends with a potluck theme ‘something’s fishy’. Each one of us decided to bring in a fish recipe and we had a ball. We ended up with so many delicious fish dishes that I couldn't resist getting recipes for. Some dishes were pure desi, some from the foreign, some starters, and some mains. Honestly, I think you should give that a try too. Here’s a list of a few of the recipes that we had at our potluck.
Prawn Fry
To begin with, we had some Prawn Fry. This is a very popular recipe that I am sure you must have had a lot of times in a Malvani restaurant before. It is a simple yet flavourful recipe that you must try to make at home. It is pretty much fresh prawns stir-fried with a few spices! I bet you just cannot resist these crispy treats.
Chilly Fish
Who doesn't like crispy and chili? Chilly Fish is a perfect combination that you just can't stop enjoying in one bite. Personally, I love spicy food, so this was a dream come true for me. First you marinate the fish filet cubes and then batter fry and then it is cooked in freshly made chili sauce.Make sure to serve it hot, garnished with some sesame seeds and remaining spring onion greens to make it look even prettier.
Amritsari Fish
Next we had a popular fish dish from the streets of Amritsar. This mouth watering fried Amritsari fish is prepared with a lot of spices. Boneless fish filet cubes marinated with gram flour, yogurt and other spices, deep fried to perfection is a treat. A tip is to serve hot, sprinkled with chaat masala and lemon wedges.
Singapore Chilli Crab
Then we moved on to something international. We had Singaporean Chilli Crab, one of the most popular seafood recipes from the Oriental cuisine. Here, the crab is cooked in sweet and tangy sauce Singaporean style! It is a delightful recipe for all the crab lovers.
Fish Curry
For the mains, we had a famous goan style Fish curry. Beautifully marinated pomfret fish cooked in a flavourful curry is my heart's winner. We paired it with red rice as the curry just bursts with flavour so we wanted something simple on the side. There are so many other fish curry recipes like the Malvani Fish Curry , Manglorean Fish Curry, Punjabi Fish Curry etc. that you can also give a try.
With all these fun recipes made by each one of my friends, a lot of chit-chat and memories, we called it a night. Hope you enjoyed it too and plan to do something similar with your friends.
